Cognitive Impairment

Impairment in cognitive function is a difficult injury to experience and can be a challenging disability to diagnose.

If you believe you have a cognitive impairment, you may experiencing difficulties in some of these areas:

  • sensory experience (sensation, hearing, or sight)
  • concentration
  • memory
  • language expression
  • reasoning skills

However, impairment in any one of these areas can involve a number of various symptoms.

Recognition of a cognitive impairment may come over time, as the symptoms of the impairment become more evident to you and your family members.

It may help to review the general information here about types of impairments, the causes and injuries associated with them, and how to identify your symptoms to get an accurate diagnosis. We also include some terms related to cognitive impairment.
